The goals of “Jack Bauer Days” are:
• To foster creativity – We’d like to think we’re good at hiring smart people and we’d be mad to keep all that brain-power locked up.
• Scratch itches – In their pursuit of perfection every developer has something that bugs them about any product, or something extra they’d like to see them do.
• Spike – Often, radical ideas don’t get traction because we don’t understand how they’d work or what benefit they’d provide, eg Gmail came out of a similar system at Google.
• Have fun – Doing things like these challenge days and being involved in our company meetings make Promax a fun place to work.
The Promax Ancient Vevuzela Ceremony
The inaugural “Jack Bauer 24 Challenge” was a huge success with lots of great inventions and ideas to enhance our product, continually improve our processes or just make our development team’s life easier (as if it wasn’t enjoyable enough already !)
With the resounding majority of the vote was Programmer – Gavin Hodge with a sensational and very commercial application for Promax which is just too exciting to reveal at this point…. stay tuned!
The official “Vuvuzela of Magnificent Programming Glory” presentation ceremony was held in mysterious surroundings which can’t be revealed in order to protect this prestigious and highly prized symbol of brilliance!
